9 of the Best Hidden Beaches in Mallorca, Spain!
The Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca is know for its Calas. These are small coves or bays surrounded by the rocky coastline. Because of the geography of the island, it means that many of these Calas have secret, hidden beaches, that aren’t always visible from a main road! I have collaborated with other travel bloggers to share some of the best of Mallorca’s secluded beaches!

Sa Calobra Beach
Suggested by Kylie from Between England & Everywhere
- 🚙Drive Time From Palma: approx 1hr 25
- 🚾Facilities: (all nearby-none on beach) toilets, restaurant, shops, parking
Perhaps one of the best hidden beaches in Mallorca, is Sa Calobra Beach on the north coast of the island. The beach sits at the end of the Torrent de Pareis, a large canyon created by water cutting through the landscape. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Sa Calobra Beach (also known as Torrent de Pareis beach), is accessed via a challenging hike along the gorge, or through the Sa Calobra tunnels from the port. It takes around 15 minutes to walk from Port de Sa Calobra.

The beach is a little stoney, but is in a beautiful location being surrounded by the towering sides of the gorge.
There are no facilities at the beach. The nearest public toilets are back through the tunnels and cost 50 cents to use. You’ll also find a small selection of restaurants and souvenir shops back at the port. Keep in mind that anything you want to take to the beach, will need to be carried through the narrow tunnels.
Sa Calobra beach is best reached by car (there is a pay and display car park) or via a ferry from Port de Soller. I visited as part of a Mallorca island tour, which also included a ride on the Soller to Palma train.
Cala Antena
Suggested by Paulina from the UK Every Day
- 🚙Drive Time From Palma: approx 1hr 05
- 🚾Facilities: beach bar, sun lounger rentals
If you’re looking to visit the hidden gem of Cala Antena in Mallorca, Spain, there are a few ways to get there. You can take a bus from EstaciĂł Intermodal in Palma de Mallorca and transfer in Manacor to reach Cales de Mallorca. Once you arrive at the bus stop in Cales de Mallorca, you can embark on a scenic hike to Cala Antena.

Cala Antena is located near the resort town of Cales de Mallorca, making it convenient for visitors to stay nearby. There are several hotels in the area, with HYB Eurocalas being one of the closest to Cala Antena beach. Whether you’re planning a day trip or a longer stay, you can easily access this hidden beach and enjoy its tranquil surroundings.
When visiting Cala Antena, keep in mind that there are amenities available for your convenience. You’ll find a beach bar where you can grab a refreshing drink and relax on a sun lounger that you can rent.
The beach itself is secluded and surrounded by cliffs, offering a unique and picturesque setting for your visit. With its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere, Cala Antena is a great spot to escape the crowds and immerse yourself in the beauty of Mallorca.
Cala Ferrera (Cala d’Or)
Suggested by Kylie from Between England & Everywhere
- 🚙Drive Time From Palma: approx 1hr
- 🚾Facilities: toilets, shower, beach bar, rentals (sun lounger, umbrellas, water sports equipment), lifeguard
Cala d’Or has 5 beaches altogether, with a couple of them being hidden away from main roads. One of my favourites is Cala Ferrera, it has some of the bluest sea I have ever seen in Europe!
Several hotels overlook the Cala and have tracks that lead to the beach, or to areas with ladders where you can jump into the sea. Alternatively, there is a staircase that leads down to the beach from the main road.

When on the beach, you’ll find a lifeguard during peak times, along with sun lounger and umbrella rentals (including safes). For those who like to be active, pedal boats and stand-up paddle boards can be hired too. There’s also a designated swimming area, which has plenty of shallow areas and calm waters.
For facilities, the beach has free public toilets and showers, plus a couple of beach bars with food and drinks. One of the highlights is the ‘Cala d’Or fruit man‘ who sells fresh fruit on the beach. He sings songs and puts on a bit of a show when cutting up the fruit.
Another great beach that you can walk to from Cala Ferrera, via a track through the woods, is Cala Serena. This Cala is one of the smallest in Cala d’Or but it has beautiful blue water. There are lots of things to do in Cala d’Or, from restaurants, shops, attractions for children and plenty of accommodation options.
Cala Formentor
Suggested by Adrienne from Destinations & Desserts
- 🚙Drive Time From Palma: approx 1hr 05
- 🚾Facilities: toilets, showers, lifeguard, restaurants, rentals (day beds, water sport equipment)
Cala Formentor is one of the most beautiful coves in Mallorca. Located on the less crowded northwest part of the island near Cap de Formentor, this sparkling turquoise bay is a must-visit whether you go on a traditional Mallorcan llaut as we did, or spend the day at beautiful Playa Formentor, the main beach in this area.

Located just under 10 km from Puerto Pollensa, Playa Formentor is easily accessible by car with two large (paid) parking lots. Or you can take the ferry from Puerto Pollensa, which takes just 25 minutes and operates regularly from May through October. The ferry is also a great way to enjoy views of the Mallorcan coastline.
If you’re interested in snorkelling, make sure to bring your equipment with you, since there are lots of nice fish to see in the water. If snorkeling isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other kinds of watersports equipment you can rent, including paddle boats, stand-up paddle boards, and kayaks.
When you need a break from the water, you can lounge on a daybed (palm trees provide nice shade) or grab some food at one of the three beach-front restaurants. Playa Formentor also has showers and toilets, and during the summer the beach is lifeguarded.
Cala Gat
Suggested by Soline from On The Road Diary
- 🚙Drive Time From Palma: approx 1hr 15
- 🚾Facilities: (all nearby) toilets, parking, beach bar
Cala Gat is a pretty secluded beach in the east of Mallorca, a good one-hour drive from Palma. The closest towns from this beach are Cala Ratjada and ArtĂ .
To access it, you will need to drive on road ma-15 until reaching Sant Llorenç des Cardassar. Then, head north to Capdepera for about 20 minutes. From there, itâs a 10-minute drive to Cala Gat, on the eastern tip of the island!

As it’s a little off the beaten track, it’s not a beach where you stop and go. People visiting the beach really had in mind to visit this special place. And we get why; this little beach is idyllic, with soft, clean sand and clear, warm water 6 months of the year!
It’s also surrounded by trees, giving it a very welcoming atmosphere. Soline from On The Road Diary recommends underwater lovers to bring their snorkelling equipment since there are plenty of small fish in the water.
There’s plenty of parking close to the beach, and even toilets and a small bar near the beach. It’s a stunning beach where you could stay for the whole day!
Cala Mesquida
Suggested by Joanna from The World In My Pocket
- 🚙Drive Time From Palma: approx 1hr 10
- 🚾Facilities: chair rentals, restaurant, beach bar
Cala Mesquida is a wonderful beach, in the northeast of Mallorca. It is not a popular place due to its location, so here you wonât find hordes of tourists. I only discovered it by chance, after spotting it from the top of Capdepera fortress â which as well, I stumbled upon accidentally.
The best way to get to Cala Mesquida is by driving and I highly recommend hiring a car in Mallorca for this. It was the best decision I have made, which allowed me to find places that tourists usually donât go to, such as Cala Mesquida.

The beach is easily accessible from the main road, by following a short path. There is a car park on top of the cliffs, so you donât need to walk far with your beach bags. The beach is sandy and wide, inside a bay surrounded by high cliffs.
If you enjoy hiking, you can follow the coastal trail which leads to other smaller calas such as Torta or Estreta. The terrain is quite rough so make sure you are wearing proper hiking shoes.
There are a few facilities on the beach, such as chair rentals, a restaurant, and a beach bar. However, there are no toilets available.
Cala Des Moro
Suggested by Marjut from The Smooth Escape
- 🚙Drive Time From Palma: approx 50 mins
- 🚾Facilities: none
Calo des Moro is a small sandy beach on the southeast coast of Mallorca. Despite being in a secluded location, away from any resort towns, it is one of the most famous beaches on the island. Known for its spectacular neon blue water, white sand, and picturesque setting between two cliffs, itâs a must-visit place on any Mallorca itinerary.Â

The closest village to Calo des Moro is Cala Llombards, which is about a 30-minute walk away. However, most people visit the beach on a day trip from the larger and more popular holiday towns on the island.
To get to the beach, you have to leave your car at the parking lot called âParking Cala Llombards y Cala S’Almuniaâ and then walk the remaining kilometre.
Calo des Moro is perfect for snorkeling as the water there is crystal clear and usually calm. There are no facilities or amenities at the beach but you might find some vendors selling snacks and soft drinks at the neighbouring Cala SâAlmunia Beach.
Keep in mind that since Calo des Moro is small and very popular, it tends to get overcrowded in the summer months. If you want to be sure that youâll get a spot to put your towel down, I recommend going there early in the morning.
Cala Murta
Suggested by Lavina DâSouza of Continent Hop
- 🚙Drive Time From Palma: approx 1hr 10
- 🚾Facilities: none
Cala Murta is a tranquil, sandy beach on the island of Mallorca. The beach is not visible from the main road hence an excellent getaway from the popular beaches on the island.
A short and scenic stroll along the track near the Formentor peninsula parking area will take you to Cala Murta. This is a perfect place to seek repose if you are spending a weekend in Mallorca.
Cala Murta is a short drive from Port de Pollença, the nearest town. From Port de Pollença or nearby, you can drive to the walking track’s start and enjoy this hidden beach.

Before visiting, remember that Cala Murta has limited facilities. Pack everything you need for the day, including water and snacks as there are no restrooms, food and drink services, or sun lounger rentals.
Despite the lack of facilities, the beach’s beautiful waters and pebbly coastlines are perfect for snorkelling and stand-up paddleboarding, providing a peaceful setting to experience Mallorca’s natural beauty.
Cala Murta’s pristine nature and calm ambiance make it a must-see for anyone seeking to escape the crowds. Whether you love swimming or just want a peaceful place to relax, Cala Murta will be a great addition to your European summer plans.
Cala Santanyi
Suggested by Taylor from Culture Craving Couple
- 🚙Drive Time From Palma: approx 50 mins
- 🚾Facilities: parking, toilets, rentals (sun loungers, umbrellas, water sports equipment), restaurant
Cala Santanyi is a gorgeous little beach that locals, instead of tourists, visit. Although it’s not considered a “hotspot” in Mallorca, this was my favourite Cala in Mallorca when I visited in October because it’s quiet but absolutely gorgeous!
The Cala is tucked inside an inlet, surrounded by a beautiful cove with low, rocky cliffs full of trees and the most incredible sunsets! The Cala is about 10 kilometres from the cute town of Santanyi, on the south-eastern side of Mallorca.

There are a few hotels nearby that you could stay at if being able to walk to the beach is important. However, if you stay in Santanyi city centre, you would do your feet a big service to access Cala Santanyi by car – unless you don’t mind walking about 45 minutes to an hour.
If you have a car, the beach could easily be a day trip from cities like Palma, as it’s only about an hour’s drive, and there is a huge parking lot right outside the Cala.
Around the beach, you’ll find restrooms and some small restaurants with “beach fare food” (think grilled fish and small snacks.) In the high season, you can rent loungers and umbrellas and even some watersports such as paddle boards. Walk just 10 minutes to “Es Pontas” to see some gorgeous rock formations just off the Cala!
