Glamping is becoming more and more popular and I think it’s brilliant. It’s a way of being able to give people the camping experience without the need of providing their own accommodation (RV, caravan, tent etc). First things first, there are several different levels of what I’d consider ‘glamping’, and even then other people’s opinions could be different! I grew up going on caravan holidays, now our UK caravans are very different from the US ‘campers’. Our caravans are tiny, where the only beds are converted forms of the tables and chairs. USA caravans are like huge mansions with full sized kitchens and bedrooms with extendable sides and air conditioning. That alone I’d almost consider quite a ‘high up’ version of glamping! Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort was one of those places that I first saw in an Australia guide book (…back before blogs really existed!) and was like yep, I have to go there! It is a destination which gives you the opportunity to encounter WILD dolphins right from the beach. No boats, no tours, just dolphins coming right up to the beach! They have been visiting the beach on an almost daily basis for over 50 years!
