The Garden of the Gods, a registered National Natural Landmark, is located in Colorado Springs CO and is completely free to visit. Set at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the main draw of the park is to marvel at the red sandstone rock formations scattered throughout. There are 17 different formations altogether and many different hiking trails totalling 21 miles. The Visitor Centre is a good place to start, you can pick up a free map which is helpful as there isn’t a huge amount of signage out on the trails.
I didn’t really know too much about Iowa before moving here. As a British person it’s not exactly a destination that gets any marketing in the UK. So of course I went into research mode. Hunting out cool things to do, roadside attractions and places that should be on an Iowa bucket list!
When planning my trips to the Wisconsin Dells, visiting indoor water parks were a ‘must do’ on our list. Travelling as just adults with no kids, it was important for us to find a water park with enough thrill slides to keep us entertained. We didn’t want to have little kid slides, we wanted big ones that get the adrenaline going! On our first trip, we went to The Wilderness and on our most recent one, the Kalahari! Here’s what I thought of the 2 parks!
American Football is the most popular sport in the USA…and I don’t understand it. Not in the sense of how can people like watching football, but more of trying to follow the game play. I get completely lost! I was recently invited to Ames, Iowa to watch the Iowa State Cyclones play the Texas Longhorns. It was my first college football game and even with help from the people around me, I still walked away a little clueless! So here are some lighthearted observations from a British person trying to understand American Football for the first time!
While travelling between London and Bosnia, I used Cologne in Germany as a stopover. As I only had around a day in the city, I stuck close to the Rhein, there’s actually loads of things to do in this area of Cologne. I love river walks, as are easy to navigate and good for people watching! Here’s how to spend one day in Cologne!
Ames Iowa is located around 30 miles north of Des Moines and is home to Iowa State University, one of the 3 universities that can be found in Iowa! It’s very much a ‘college town’ with a huge amount of pride and sense of community. Ames was recently named the best college town in America by 24/7 Wall St!
