Every person and their dog has heard of London’s Sky Garden, located in the ‘Walkie Talkie’ building. It has exploded in popularity and has found itself as one of the top free things to do… More
OK so this post isn’t exactly my regular style of travel content, but for me it’s a big focus of 2019. I need to find ways to deal with my stress and anxiety because it’s started to affect me in more ways than one, and as you can imagine, I’m NOT OK with that. So I decided to share some of my favourite free yoga and meditation resources for stress and anxiety, that I use and someone else may find beneficial!
Out of Route 66’s 2451 miles, in my opinion Arizona is home to the route’s best miles, not only does it have some unique attractions, it also has my favourite stretch of road! When you are doing a road trip such as Route 66, it’s not so much the ‘destinations’ which are the highlights, you have to embrace the whole road and the complete journey. The Sitgreaves Pass is definitely an awesome drive that’s not to be missed!
After being inspired by a post written by my friend Connie at the Midwest Wanderer,I decided to share some fun facts about Iowa that I’ve learnt from my travels and being an expat in this state! To be completely honest, as a Brit, Iowa isn’t really on the radar as somewhere that people have even heard of, let alone know anything about it! So here are some facts that you may not know about Iowa, because after all, a huge part of travel is the knowledge that you learn along the way!
When I knew I was heading down to Florida for a winter getaway, I knew that snorkelling Key West was high up there on my list of things I wanted to do! There are several different companies offering all sorts of snorkel trips but I opted to go with Fury!
A typical British thing to do is to go out for Afternoon Tea! I’ve been a fan of the smaller ‘Cream Tea’ version for as long as I can remember, thanks to my caravan holidays in Devon and Cornwall where they are extremely popular (St Agnes, Cornwall I’m looking at you with your GIANT scones)! As an Essex girl (not in the TOWIE sense) born and raised, with a Facebook friend list with lots of fellow Essex locals, I called on them for their favourite places to go for Afternoon Tea in Essex!
Marathon to Key West may only be 45 miles apart, with a straight through drive time of around an hour, but the following stops should definitely be on your itinerary! The Florida Keys as a road trip is pretty short as far as road trips go, spanning just 112 miles of US Route 1, however it makes up for it in uniqueness. Also known as the ‘Overseas Highway’, the majority of the road is exactly that, a road over the sea! The highway crosses 29 of the Florida Keys islands which are connected by 42 bridges!
Kenya was one of the first overseas countries that I visited (go big or go home!) and it opened my eyes to the whole travel world! I was based in Mombasa for 2 weeks (back when I visited, this was on a direct flight from London) and naturally I spent a lot of time on the beach, enjoying the Indian Ocean! My hotel was surrounded by monkeys so I was in my element watching them chilling out by the pool. But of course we explored some of the country too, so here are some of my favourite places to go in Mombasa including our side trip safari in Tsavo National Park!
There’s nothing that a British person loves more than to moan about the weather. It’s in our blood. So you can imagine my joy (using the term loosely) when I discovered that Iowa was going to be hit with wind chill temperatures of -50c. All those people back home on my Twitter and Facebook feeds going “It’s -6c/21f!! I’ve never been so cold in my whole life!!”…and I’m sat here like “…well…hold my tea, I’ve got news for you!”. Ladies and gentlemen I give you the Midwest Polar Vortex 2019.
