5 Destinations That I Need To Give A Second Chance

When it comes to blogging and travel writing, it seems to be a big thing that people don’t want to talk about the bad experiences, everything has to be about how wonderful travel is, you HAVE to visit here etc etc.  But in reality it’s not always the case, you’re not going to love EVERYWHERE that you travel.  Now I don’t want to be mean, there are many different things that can affect a visit, but first impressions are first impressions and in this post I share 5 disappointing travel destinations from around the world.

Top 10 Destinations – My Favourite Place In The World Is…

After travelling to 40+ countries, I’m often asked where my favourite place in the world is.  I find it hard to give just ONE place, my usual answer is ‘I liked here, here, here, here OH and here’!  But it’s time to try and put them in an order once and for all…although I can guarantee that it’ll probably change with new adventures, but for now, here are my top 10 world-wide destinations!

Expat Life: 10+ Tips For Travelling Alone With Children

When you’re an expat, there’s an awful lot of things to think about.  One thing that’s crossed my mind a few times is “if I was to have children while living in America, there may come a day when I may have to travel alone with them when visiting home”.  It’s not quick and simple.  Living in Iowa, that’s a 3 hour drive to Chicago, followed by an 8 and a half hour flight on to England…and that’s if you fly direct!

15 Glamping Accessories & Essentials To Add To Your Packing List! (Downloadable Glamping Checklist)

Glamping is becoming more and more popular and I think it’s brilliant.  It’s a way of being able to give people the camping experience without the need of providing their own accommodation (RV, caravan, tent etc).  First things first, there are several different levels of what I’d consider ‘glamping’, and even then other people’s opinions could be different!  I grew up going on caravan holidays, now our UK caravans are very different from the US ‘campers’.  Our caravans are tiny, where the only beds are converted forms of the tables and chairs.  USA caravans are like huge mansions with full sized kitchens and bedrooms with extendable sides and air conditioning.  That alone I’d almost consider quite a ‘high up’ version of glamping!

Getting Up Close With Wild Dolphins at Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort in Western Australia!

Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort was one of those places that I first saw in an Australia guide book (…back before blogs really existed!) and was like yep, I have to go there!  It is a destination which gives you the opportunity to encounter WILD dolphins right from the beach.  No boats, no tours, just dolphins coming right up to the beach!  They have been visiting the beach on an almost daily basis for over 50 years!

A Glamping & Cave Exploration Adventure at Spook Cave Iowa!

My childhood years were spent touring around various campgrounds in the UK, it was always the highlight of my summer.  As I got older I even thought about getting my towing license so I could pull a caravan (failing that I really wanted a camper van).  In the UK people my age don’t have the ‘grandfather rights’ to tow above a certain weight and have to take a test…I believe in the USA anyone can tow automatically.  But now with the growing popularity of ‘glamping‘, it lets you have the camping experience without the need on having to pull your own accommodation to the campground!  I visited Spook Cave and Campground, just outside of McGregor in East Iowa and stayed in their ‘Hut’ cabin.  Here’s why Spook Cave should be on your Iowa bucket list!

Ballie Ballerson: Why You Need To Visit This Adult Ball Pit Bar In London!

I once watched a video on Facebook (here’s the YouTube link) where a guy set up a ball pit in the middle of the street and asked people walking by if they were ‘too busy to have fun’.  Most were business people on the way to work etc, you could see their dilemma, did they have time to take a minute for themselves and just do something fun?  Ball pits are more commonly something associated with kids, but when I visited Ballie Ballerson, an adult ball pit bar in London, I can honestly say it brought a smile to my face and I left wishing that I could have stayed for longer because the time FLEW by!

Now my regular readers will know that I’m not a fan of winter or being cold.  So of course I’m more likely to be attracted to a ski resort when ironically there’s no snow.  These little mountain towns do summer activities SO WELL.  Just take Mayrhofen, Austria in Summer…AMAZING!  Canada is no different, Whistler is full of awesome summer activities.  I share some of my favourite activities in this things to do in Whistler summer guide!
