Discovering Street Art in Downtown Dubuque, Iowa

I’m a sucker when it comes to street art, I wrote a previous post on some of the street art locations in Camden, London!  In the American Midwest, Dubuque Iowa has EXPLODED with colour over the past couple of months!  There are several pieces scattered across Downtown Dubuque, but the majority are in a 4 block area between Locust St, Main St and 1st St to 4th St.  Here’s a sample of some of the pieces you can expect to see!

Photo Essay: Camden Street Art Locations

I first discovered Camden Town, London when I was 15 years old.  To me it was always the place to go for good music, the cool markets, shop fronts with giant objects (such as shoes) exploding from the walls and walking through crowds of punks and goths, to my ‘skater girl’ self, I was in my element!  I never really considered to wander away from the main high street, there was always plenty to hold my attention!  During my most recent trip, my aim was to go on the hunt for street art.  On a busy summer’s Sunday, the side streets were a welcomed respite from the crowds and in this post I share the 3 best street art locations that I stumbled upon!

A Guide to Lisbon’s Funicular Railways!

Geeky post alert!  I have a bit of a soft spot for Funicular Railways and the city of Lisbon in Portugal has plenty!  When I was researching my trip, I knew there was a chance I’d be pushed for time and wouldn’t be able to ride on them all.  I could find information such as their location but when it came to which ones were worth a trip, there wasn’t a whole lot of help out there!  So here’s my guide to the 4 Funiculars of Lisbon; Elavador de Santa Justa, Ascensor da Bica,  Ascensor da Gloria and Ascensor do Lavra.

Mailbox Street Art!

I think mailboxes are something us Brits will always kinda struggle to understand.  I mean where’s the security?!  Once our mail gets posted through the slot in our front door, that’s it!  It’s locked behind closed doors!  When it’s cold and rainy and you can’t be bothered to go outside, the mail is right there ready and waiting on the door mat!  BUT, you can’t decorate a letter box…American mailboxes have all ends of creative possibilities!
