Something that surprised me was the amount of caves there are in Iowa! There’s a stereotypical assumption that Iowa is flat and just full of corn fields, so discovering that there were caves was an interesting find. In my opinion, one of my favourite places to go hiking is the Mines of Spain in Dubuque Iowa! I’ve been in both summer and autumn but the recreational area is open all year round.
