Visiting the Milwaukee Harley Davidson Museum – Wisconsin

Wisconsin – The birth place of the Harley Davidson motorcycle, a company that’s now well over 100 years old and still going strong.  As part of my trip to the Women in Travel Summit, the Milwaukee Harley Davidson Museum opened its door, after hours for the attendees to explore. I went, knowing I was seeing it for my Grandad, he’ll never be able to make the trip to see it for himself. He’s nearly 80 years old and still rides around on a Harley.

A Museum like NO OTHER: City Museum St Louis, Missouri

It’s hard to find the words to describe just how crazy the City Museum in St Louis is.  The best I can come up with is a ‘giant creative steam punk playground’!  It’s definitely not your typical museum!  It’s literally a giant mash of sculptures, where everything can be climbed on/up/through or slid down!  This is the work of Bob Cassilly and his team of 20 other artists and sculptors!  The City Museum opened in 1997 and is built in a disused building that was part of the International Shoe Company Factory.

Releasing Your Inner Leprechaun at the National Leprechaun Museum Dublin!

One of my favourite places in Dublin is the National Leprechaun Museum.  So much so that I visited the museum on both of my trips to Ireland!  What I love about it, is that it’s an extremely sensory museum.  There’s only one small section, right at the beginning, which has the traditional displays showing you how leprechauns have been perceived over the years.  From their size, to how to dress, to how they have been represented in movies.  From there, you then step into a magical world of folklore and story telling for the duration of the tour!

Home Of The Hawkeyes: University of Iowa Athletics Hall Of Fame & Museum

So the Hawkeyes are making headline news at the moment, you may have seen the ‘Kinnick Wave’ on the news.  During the football home games in Iowa City, the whole of Kinnick Stadium turn to the Children’s Hospital that overlooks the stadium, and everyone waves at the patients on the 12th floor.  They even do it at night and wave phone flashlights (if you’ve ever been to a music gig where people wave a light during a song, you’ll know how awesome it looks)!  On December 7th they will be receiving the ‘Disney Sports Spirit Award’!  But did you know that in Iowa City there’s a ‘Hall of Fame and Museum’ celebrating Hawkeye sports and all the athletic achievements of the University of Iowa?

National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium Must Sees! Dubuque, IA

The National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium in Dubuque is one of Iowa’s top tourist attractions!  It is one of only a handful of establishments that is accredited by BOTH the American Alliance of Museums and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums!  The museum is split into 2 main sections, the National River Center and the Mississippi River Center (which focuses on the history and wildlife found along the Mississippi) and today I share my favourite must see areas of the museum!
