One thing that surprised me the most when I moved to Iowa, was that there was actually a ski resort! I’m sure I’m not the only one that would assume that Iowa equalled flat and all corn fields…how wrong was I! Skiing in Iowa is most definitely a thing! Sundown Mountain Resort Dubuque has 21 ski runs (green, blue and black diamond) and 2 terrain parks. When it doesn’t snow, the resort is maintained by 150 snow guns (believe me, it’s cold enough for the snow not to melt once it is there!) and the runs are groomed daily!
There’s something about sand dunes that I find incredible. I guess it’s a landscape that isn’t a common one. It’s an environment that’s usually associated with boiling hot desert like conditions that aren’t easily accessible (believe me, I’ve camped in the Sahara Desert during a sand storm!). Thanks to a roadside sign on the I94, advertising ‘dune rides’, I did a bit of research and discovered Silver Lake Sand Dunes on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Mayrhofen is a small village located in the Zillertal Valley in the Tirol region of Austria. Innsbruck is the closest major airport with a 1hr30 transfer or it can be reached by train, changing at Jenbach (with links to other places such as Salzburg and Munich). To be honest, Mayrhofen attracts a slightly older crowd that are mainly into hiking, but there is SO much more to the region than just hiking trails. Here are my top 10 things to do for those looking for a summer adventure in Austria!
There are several different things I take into consideration when planning my travels. A big one is the attractions that are available in the area, I’ll often base myself close to the places I want to visit! One of these 3 Ocho Rios excursions was the whole reason Jamaica made it on to my bucket list! These excursions are perfect for those that love a bit of adventure when they travel!
Chestnut Mountain in Galena Illinois has you covered for year round fun! In the winter months it is a ski resort with 19 runs of different difficulties. But the Chestnut Mountain adrenaline rush isn’t just confined to winter, nope, during the summer there are a whole range of other activities to keep you entertained while enjoying views of the Mississippi River!
I don’t know about everyone else, but I get a little bit bored reading the same ‘must do’ posts over and over, there are only so many museums/churches/galleries you can visit. So for my 48 hour trip to Prague, Czech Republic, I decided to plan the whole trip using a Kids in Prague guide (which I picked up by chance at the Destinations Show in London!). I visited with my Sister, we are both mid to late 20’s, obviously we didn’t visit playgrounds, we just wanted different inspiration, a list of unique things to do in Prague! Here’s what we found!
After getting a taste for Australia in 2008, I really wanted to go back and road trip the west coast, escape the cities and experience ‘outback’ Australia. Lancelin Sand Dunes were one of my highlights from my 7 day Western Australia road trip. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much WHITE sand in my life! The town of Lancelin is just a short 90 minute drive north of Perth, making it an easy day trip from the city! Continue reading “Exploring Lancelin Sand Dunes Western Australia”
For AGES, the adrenaline activity that was right at the top of my bucket list was to be a passenger in a bobsleigh. I love the Cool Runnings Disney film, I visited the Whistler (Canada) track in the summer, and I watch the Bobsleigh World Cup every winter (I was a huge Steve Holcomb fan…RIP). In 2013 I finally ticked it off the bucket list and it didn’t disappoint, I was like a kid at Christmas! I even kissed my hard boiled egg at breakfast, just like Sanka in Cool Runnings! Here’s a look at my Sigulda bobsleigh experience!
