After travelling to 40+ countries, I’m often asked where my favourite place in the world is. I find it hard to give just ONE place, my usual answer is ‘I liked here, here, here, here OH and here’! But it’s time to try and put them in an order once and for all…although I can guarantee that it’ll probably change with new adventures, but for now, here are my top 10 world-wide destinations!
I still find it hard to believe that Hawaii is one of the American States. It sounds silly but it honestly feels like a million miles away from mainland USA! (With my Green Card I could technically live in paradise!!) If you’re looking for things to do in Oahu, in this post I share a whole range of things that I squeezed into a 1 week trip! Oahu is small enough to be able to see a good amount of the island in just a short time. We hired a car for half of the week to explore the parts of the Windward side of Oahu, allowing us to get out of the city and appreciate the quieter parts of the island!
If you book a trip to Hawaii, there’s a high chance that you’ve obviously got beaches on your mind and there are certainly plenty to choose from! My week in Oahu felt a bit like a beach crawl, jumping in for a swim at every given opportunity! In this post, I share with you 5 of the best beaches in Oahu and give you some tips for visiting!
One of the cool parts of travelling is being able to experience things that are part of the culture you are visiting. Before I went to Hawaii, a neighbour recommended us to have a go on an Outrigger Canoe while visiting Oahu. Outrigger Canoes are similar to a narrow dug out canoe but with a giant stabiliser on one side. In Polynesian cultures as well as a method of transport, they are used in racing too!
There are a few different waterfalls in Oahu, however some of them can’t be seen year round, as it depends on things like rainfall (*did you know* Uluru/Ayers Rock actually has waterfalls after heavy rains but then they’ll dry up!). One of my favourite experiences in Hawaii was swimming in Waimea Falls! There’s an easy hike through the Waimea Valley to reach the falls too!
My guilty pleasure when travelling, is ICE CREAM! I have no shame in admitting that I’m the pig that’ll go for the 3+ scoops every time and often have more than one a day just because I can! Gelato is amazing, whippy ice cream is yum, cone, tub, I’m not fussed (gotta admit though, I’m not so much of a chocolate fan!)! I’m always on the hunt for cool ice cream parlours, here’s a couple of the more unique ones I’ve found!
