There’s no denying that everyone loves a good nose at what people pack in their suitcases and now I’m going to give you a look into mine. This is a look at what was on my Australia packing list for a 2 week trip during winter! Typically when the Northern Hemisphere gets their school breaks, the Southern Hemisphere is just coming into winter. So while I’ve been used to temperatures reaching between 30c – 40c (high 80fs to 90s), I traded them in for temperatures a bit of a jump lower than that!
I could have spent an awful lot longer in Western Australia. But as a part time traveller who just wants to see as much as possible, I crammed a 3000km road trip into just 7 days and I loved every single second. This is my 1 week Western Australia itinerary, including where I stopped each night, what there is to see on the route and how we spent our time in our overnight town stops! I designed my trip so I either had a full afternoon or morning in the towns that we stopped at. If you don’t have the time to go from Perth to Exmouth, Perth to Coral Bay is well worth the trip!
The adventurer inside of me was SCREAMING out to climb Uluru (aka Ayers Rock) in Australia. What does it look like from the top? I heard there were water holes up there, can they be seen? Could I psychically get up there…sounds like a challenge, look there’s even a rope to help! BUT I didn’t. The responsible side of me took over. Not only is it steep and dangerous (I saw people sliding back down on their bums!), the Aboriginals ask you not to out of respect.
After getting a taste for Australia in 2008, I really wanted to go back and road trip the west coast, escape the cities and experience ‘outback’ Australia. Lancelin Sand Dunes were one of my highlights from my 7 day Western Australia road trip. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much WHITE sand in my life! The town of Lancelin is just a short 90 minute drive north of Perth, making it an easy day trip from the city! Continue reading “Exploring Lancelin Sand Dunes Western Australia”
