The American Midwest seems to get overlooked by a lot of travellers, with the masses, especially overseas visitors, flocking to the likes of California, New York, Florida and Vegas. The Midwest is my adopted Expat home so it’s an area that I have spent some time exploring. It’s made up of 12 states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The Iconic Route 66 road trip starts Illinois and travels through 3 of the Midwestern states! I haven’t visited them all but I’ve visited a fair few.
