5 Destinations That I Need To Give A Second Chance

When it comes to blogging and travel writing, it seems to be a big thing that people don’t want to talk about the bad experiences, everything has to be about how wonderful travel is, you HAVE to visit here etc etc.  But in reality it’s not always the case, you’re not going to love EVERYWHERE that you travel.  Now I don’t want to be mean, there are many different things that can affect a visit, but first impressions are first impressions and in this post I share 5 disappointing travel destinations from around the world.

15 Glamping Accessories & Essentials To Add To Your Packing List! (Downloadable Glamping Checklist)

Glamping is becoming more and more popular and I think it’s brilliant.  It’s a way of being able to give people the camping experience without the need of providing their own accommodation (RV, caravan, tent etc).  First things first, there are several different levels of what I’d consider ‘glamping’, and even then other people’s opinions could be different!  I grew up going on caravan holidays, now our UK caravans are very different from the US ‘campers’.  Our caravans are tiny, where the only beds are converted forms of the tables and chairs.  USA caravans are like huge mansions with full sized kitchens and bedrooms with extendable sides and air conditioning.  That alone I’d almost consider quite a ‘high up’ version of glamping!

Surviving The Midwest Polar Vortex 2019: Think -3c is Cold? Try -53c!

There’s nothing that a British person loves more than to moan about the weather.  It’s in our blood.  So you can imagine my joy (using the term loosely) when I discovered that Iowa was going to be hit with wind chill temperatures of -50c.  All those people back home on my Twitter and Facebook feeds going “It’s -6c/21f!! I’ve never been so cold in my whole life!!”…and I’m sat here like “…well…hold my tea, I’ve got news for you!”.  Ladies and gentlemen I give you the Midwest Polar Vortex 2019.

Floatation Therapy – My Float Tank Experience at Float & Fly in Dubuque, Iowa!

I’m all for trying unique experiences and when I first heard about floatation therapy and float tanks, I had to try it out!  I had seen something similar in a hotel lobby in Las Vegas a while back, it was a kind of water bed in a pod which moved in a way that massaged you.  This is a little different though, a float tank is like a giant bath filled with a saline/epsom salt salution which allows you to float in just a few inches of water, similar to the dead sea!

Appreciating Small Town USA Tourism in Sheffield Iowa

Since moving to the USA, I’ve had to rely on visiting small towns to get my travel fix.  I’m 3 and a half hours away from the nearest two large cities (Chicago and Des Moines), which make just trying to get to the airport a chore.  In the UK I was spoilt living 20 minutes from one of London’s airports, I could get from my front door and to a major city IN ANOTHER COUNTRY within 3 and a half hours.  I can’t even drive across a state in that time!  So if I want to get away for a quick weekend break, I’ve had to train myself to view anywhere and everywhere as a tourist destination, no matter how big or how small.

Tips For Travelling With A Drone

As a fairly new drone pilot I’m still learning the ins and outs of travelling with a drone, but I thought I would share with you some of my experiences so far!  I bought a DJI Spark because it’s one of the smallest drones out there, yet still produces good images and videos!  One of my biggest priorities when I bought it, was that it had to be small enough to be able to travel with easily!  But it’s not as simple as getting on a plane and then sending it up when you arrive in the destination, there’s a lot to consider.

Australia Packing List: What To Pack For Australia In Winter

There’s no denying that everyone loves a good nose at what people pack in their suitcases and now I’m going to give you a look into mine.  This is a look at what was on my Australia packing list for a 2 week trip during winter!  Typically when the Northern Hemisphere gets their school breaks, the Southern Hemisphere is just coming into winter.  So while I’ve been used to temperatures reaching between 30c – 40c (high 80fs to 90s), I traded them in for temperatures a bit of a jump lower than that!
