The Happiness Advantage: Implementing ‘Orange Frog’ Habits Into Daily Life

Recently for my job, I was sent on a course about how to have a happy, positive way of thinking in life.  No, it wasn’t an anger management course and no I was not sent on it because I’m a grump bag!  It started by reading a parable called The Orange Frog.  All the frogs in the pond were green, when one of them started to think positive, he became more orange.  At first, the other frogs thought being orange and different was a bad thing.  But the positivity started to rub off on all the frogs around him and soon they all became orange.  They realised that although bad things may happen in their life, their outlook could change the way they were affected by it.

In the midst of ‘Chain America’ exists local businesses that are amazing at what they do.  Today I’m shining a spotlight on Betty Jane Candies born and bred right here in Dubuque, Iowa!  Betty Jane Candies was first established back in 1938.  They have 3 store locations in Iowa, 2 in Dubuque and one in Marion, with the Asbury Road (Dubuque) store doubling up as a mini Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory where all of their yummy treats are made!

Review: The Little Care Package British Subscription Box

Being a Brit in the USA, there’s nothing I enjoy more than receiving a little box of English treats from home!  The Little Care Package is a brand new subscription box company aimed at British expats living in America and Canada.  It was created by a Brit living in Canada that was, to be honest, disgusted at the price of buying British items overseas…$8 for an English magazine?!  She wanted to be able to give us a little slice of home for a more affordable price! My Favourite Travel Inspired Books

My favourite type of book to read are ones that are travel inspired.  They have the power to make me feel like I’m somewhere else, even if I’m just at home sitting on the sofa!  In 2016 I read over 30 books!  When I moved to America, I even signed up for a library card!  There was a huge library in my hometown in England but for some reason I never really used it once I was an adult, I always just bought paperbacks or downloaded Kindle books!  Here are some of my favourite books, some have even inspired me to travel because of reading them!

Guide Book for Completing the USA Marriage & Fiancé Visa

I’m going to share a secret with you.  I purchased a book that became my LIFESAVER when filling out my USA Marriage visa.  It was literally my guide, I referred to it each time I had a form to fill out and it obviously worked as all of my forms were accepted first time and I never had any ‘corrections’ to fill in and return.

Typing up Travel Journals Into One Book

Packing to emigrate permanently is a pain.  As well as needing clothes for 4 extreme seasons, I obviously want to surround myself with all of my personal possessions and it turns out that 3 suitcases are actually a lot smaller than expected!  Ever since I was young I’ve kept a travel journal for every trip, they are full of memories and mean the world to me.  For YEARS I have been looking for a company that would print my travel journals into one book and I’ve always struggled, but now I’m moving it was more important than ever to find somewhere, 2 books are a lot easier to pack that 30 odd!  I couldn’t find anywhere that would just print off one individual copy that was private.  Everywhere wanted ISBN numbers or bulk printing, but at last I’ve found somewhere and I’m so pleased with the result!
