Another month gone already! Here I’ll be looking back on what I’ve been up to this month, the places I’ve been, the highs and lows, how the endless visa process is going and other random things I’m finding interesting this month! *Little Side Note* I’m still not quite an Expat yet…this is the last full month before I emigrate!
Days since the first visa correspondence = 315
After 10 long months, my Green Card Visa was finally granted! The paperwork and waiting is the hardest part, the interview at the American Embassy is a breeze! It’s a bit of an anti climax really!
6/7/16 – Interview at the American Embassy, London. VISA GRANTED
11/7/16 – Email saying that the London Embassy has sent my passport to the courier
12/7/16 – Visa pack arrived by courier, containing a sealed pack to be handed to immigration in America, my passport and 2 information sheets
16/7/16 – Green Card fee paid online

Where I’ve Been
- London x3
- North Wield
I went on the longest and tallest tube slide in the world! It was so much fun, a blog post will follow later this week all about my experience! Here’s a sneak peak of what it looks like!
I spent lots of time with my family this month, we walked along the canal between Little Venice and Camden in London and went to a couple of American car shows in Essex. My granny threw me a little leaving lunch/party for some of the family and we had a barbecue with a couple of our family friends (complete with smores and muffins!)
I guess I better include the fact my visa was granted too!
I’m so over packing now. Three suitcases and two cabins bags are almost packed and will travel with me and I’ve filled a whole load of storage boxes that for now will be staying in England.
I hit over 1000 monthly views in July! I feel it’s important to celebrate little blogging milestones, I may not be a huge blog but it shows that people are taking the time to visit my site and that gives me the drive to carry on doing what I do! So thank you again for stopping by!
I also started my ‘Blogging Course’ this month! The biggest thing that I’ve done so far as you may have noticed, is my site redesign! I’m really pleased with it! I’ve also given my social media channels a similar feel and even created business cards!
Blogs I’ve Contributed to This Month
Sharing some love for other blogs I’ve contributed to! Go check them out!

Songs For The Playlist
Busted – One of a Kind. Cannot wait until the new album comes out!
Apps I’m Enjoying
Dare I say Pokemon Go? Although I have a confession, I almost deleted it. I’m a sofa player, but there’s something strangely addictive about seeing what I can catch without even moving (FYI, lots of rats and pigeons). I don’t really know how anything works but I do have a giant collection of rats now.
Book of the Month
So far I’m on target for my 2 books a month challenge! You can check out my 2016 category challenge here! I have completed 2 categories this month!
- A book I’ve owned but never read (Pirates!)
- Re-read a book that I’ll be leaving behind when I emigrate (Goodnight Mister Tom)
Books read = FOUR:
Pirates! – Celia Rees
Born to be Riled – Jeremy Clarkson
Goodnight Mister Tom – Michelle Magirian
The Enchanted Wood – Enid Blyton
Book of the Month:
The Enchanted Wood – Enid Blyton
My rating: 5/5! Yes, it’s a children’s book! I’ve been re-reading a couple of books that I’ll be leaving behind but The Enchanted Wood is just a feel good book regardless of the reader’s age! It’s all about 3 children that discover the ‘Faraway Tree’ in the woods next to their home. They climb up the tree and find a ladder at the top that leads to magical temporary lands. There’s even a slide to get back down the tree again! If only travel was that easy!
Other Things That Have No Category!
I’ve applied for a job in America! So my fingers are crossed! It’ll be good if I have something to throw myself into as soon as I arrive!
What’s Coming up in August
I’m emigrating next week! Eek! So I’ll be flying into Chicago and then taking the 3 hour road trip into Iowa! I have a week of sight-seeing planned as my family are flying with me to see where I’ll be living!
Don’t forget to follow me on my Social Media Channels!
Phew! Have a great August everyone!
