4 Awesome Camden Street Art Locations in London UK

London has some amazing areas for street art!  I first discovered Camden Town, London when I was 15 years old.  To me it was always the place to go for good music, the cool markets, shop fronts with giant objects (such as shoes) exploding from the walls and walking through crowds of punks and goths, to my ‘skater girl’ self, I was in my element! But it’s a great place to look for street art! In this post I share the 4 best Camden street art locations that I’ve stumbled upon!

🗺Buck Street

Turning right out of Camden Town tube station and heading down the main high street, ‘Camden Market’ comes up on the right. The first road past this is ‘Buck Street’ and the first stop of this Camden street art self guided tour!  There are a few pieces along this road and more can be seen around the junction of Kentish Town Road!

🗺High Street

I turned round and headed back to the main high street.  Camden High Street has always been a visual pleasure and there seems to have been more additions in recent years.

You’ll see some smaller pieces of street art on the tops of buildings but the fronts of the shops are worth a mention in their own right! Many are very brightly coloured with large 3D sculptures emerging from the walls. From big platform boots to planes to dragons, it’s one thing that has always drawn me to Camden!

(The piece above (Uplifted Dreams by Otto Schade) is hidden under the bridge that passes over the canal.  It can be seen by going down on the tow path under the ‘Camden Lock’ sign and turning left.)

🗺Hawley Road & Hawley Mews

Carry on along the main road, under the green and yellow Camden Lock train bridge!  On the right hand side is ‘Hawley Road’, the second stop!  Turn onto this street, take the first left onto ‘Hawley Mews’ and then left again on ‘Hartland Road’.  There’s SO many different pieces in this short little loop, it’s amazing! 🗺Regents Park Road

Once back on the main ‘Chalk Farm Road’, continue along in the direction of travel.  You’ll pass ‘The Roundhouse’ music venue on the left and in front you’ll see Chalk Farm Station coming up.  Just before you reach the station on the corner of ‘Regents Park Road’ is our final stop!  This was once upon a time home to Banksy’s ‘French Maid’ piece, but it was vandalised and has since been replaced by a few different pieces including a steam train and an evil melting ice cream piece!

There are so many other pieces on random corners along the route that I haven’t mentioned, these are my 4 favourite locations away from all the crowds! Brick Lane (near Liverpool Street) is another great area for Street Art in London! The area near Allen Gardens and Spitalfields City Farm (alongside the train line), has loads of graffiti and street art.

Please be aware with the nature of street art, some of these pieces may no longer be around.  Often murals are covered up and repainted over, just like the Banksy piece!

The Stable Markets are well worth checking out while you are in Camden. There’s now an ‘umbrella street’ in the Stables Markets. Or for an adventure a little further afield, follow the canal path from Camden to Little Venice!
